Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique key case to commemorate the brand's centennial. It is constructed of Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes a fluttering "B" paperweight, keys, and a booklet featuring never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

This is the ideal method to welcome a brand new owner of a vehicle.

Aesthetics

As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It shows in the precision location of its quilting the selection of leather from by-products of cattle production, the wood from sustainable forests and the creative patterns on its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you walk up to it to show its sculptural beauty and power through carefully planned lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. Its rear tonneau, for instance, featured the largest piece of book-matched, dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to an actual production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after automotive brand in the world because of its unique design and craftsmanship. The company continues to push the boundaries using the most advanced technologies and hand-crafted products. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear sunroof as well as a hand-crafted Apple iPad docking station.

A century after its creation, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of conflict with BMW and BMW - celebrated its centennial in the year 2019. Prior to the pandemic plan taking place, the marque held a series of special events and launches planned to celebrate this historic occasion.

TheKeyLab  is known as a premium car manufacturer who produces lavish and extravagant cars. But even the keys are a statement. The Bentayga Key is made of sterling silver with a large B' logo to inform everyone that you drive a Bentley. The key is also embossed with the dates 1919 and 2019 to mark the company’s centenary.

Bentley Mulliner reinvented and designed the Mulsanne to become the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. It comes with two pairs of rear seats that were designed to be reminiscent of luxury private aviation offering passengers unbeatable comfort and security. The customized heating and ventilation as well as air conditioning system was developed to give each passenger the perfect climate control setting.

In addition to a suite of refined styling updates The Mulsanne is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine that can produce 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This power is paired by a brand new suspension system that gives Bentley's famously smooth ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a bespoke specification known as the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. The cabin has cross-stitching, and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests, seats and other areas of the car. This enhances the celebration. A bespoke Bentley key case is also included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key features two buttons: one that opens the trunk, and another that is used to start the vehicle. It also has a switch to switch on the parking break. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spots. This feature makes it easier to get in and out of your car.

Each key takes about two days to make. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, sewed and sealed, then polished to give a superior result. It is compact and strong and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is reminiscent of the Volkswagen Phaeton's big car key, however it feels heavier and more premium.

Secure-A-Key is also included to prevent keyless entry theft. The device is inserted into the remote-control fob, and is disabled when the key isn't used for a few minutes. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the car.

Bentley's unique design is a reflection of the company's values that include fine craftsmanship engineering expertise, as well as cutting-edge technology. Its headquarters in Crewe are home to more than four hundred employees who are responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley vehicles. These workers apply the skills passed through generations and apply them to the latest in automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its finest.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to create their own car. The guests sit at a collection of images, referred to "mood stations" and pick a collection of photos - from scenic landscapes to sporting events that can inspire them. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges is the model of the Bentley, as well as the color and style preferences for the personalized Bentley.

The configuration that is created is saved to individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards, which are presented to guests in a custom-made key case. Keys can be outfitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps, which illuminate the path of the entrance door, and display the owner's name or logo as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley says it takes roughly 500 man hours to design and assemble the average Mulsanne. The inability to adopt new technology is the key to this lengthy and laborious process. Instead of making use of a machine to space the perfectly-matched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, not using sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spots.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities in the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays homage to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays tribute to the founding father of the brand, William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars include an item key that shows an original 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
